Indira Kate Kalmbach, M.A., LPC

Indira Kate Kalmbach, M.A., LPC, is a graduate of Northwestern University where she received a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Northwestern University teaches psychodynamic therapy. This is an evidence-based style that emphasizes the client-counselor relationship and focuses on finding and changing dysfunctional patterns of suffering.

People often seek counseling when they want to make changes and have questions about what is going on in their lives. It can be really hard to ask for support; and it is always an honor to be a part of clients’ change processes. Our work together will be collaborative: you’ll set the goals, and together we will work to uncover the tools that empower you to reach those goals. Your sense of being supported and safe is a key ingredient through all stages of counseling.

Indira’s life equipped her to understand how complicated life and relationships can be. Sometimes it felt as if the challenges she encountered outweighed her ability to cope with them. This feeling of overwhelm, and the path she carved in the face of those challenges, led her to understand her own suffering through the lens of mindfulness. Indira has been practicing meditation for over twenty years and teaching mindfulness skills for twenty-five years. Facing and understanding her own suffering guided her to want to help others navigate through their own stormy waters.
